School Meals
School meals are prepared on the premises. A varied menu is provided with healthy eating in mind. Menus are provided in advance and a typical menu is enclosed in Appendix
3. Vegetarian options and sandwiches are also provided. Children who wish to bring a packed lunch may do so. In the event that children arrive at school having forgotten money or lunch, a meal will always be provided.
Money for school meals is collected on Monday mornings and should be sent to school in envelopes marked with the child’s name and the days for which meals have been paid for. Families with more than one child in school should send the envelope with the oldest child, if that is more convenient. Cheques for school meals should be made payable to WCBC.
Free school meals are provided for children whose parents are in receipt of Income Support and/or Income Based Job Seekers Allowance. If you think you may qualify for free school meals, please contact the school for an application form.
Money In School
When sending money into school for whatever reason, please ensure that it is put into a separate envelope and clearly marked with the child’s name, class, amount and for what purpose it is intended.
Free School Milk
Free school milk is available for all children in the Nursery, Reception Class and Key Stage I (Years 1 & 2). Letters are sent out in September to all parents of children in these classes asking if they would like their child/ren to have milk at break time with their snack. If you decide that you would like your child to have school milk at a later date, please inform your child’s teacher so that extra milk can be ordered.
Drinking water is available for
children throughout the day.
Charging Policy
Parents will be invited to make a voluntary contribution towards the cost of School visits/dramatic performances etc. Parents experiencing difficulty in affording costs are always welcome to approach the Head teacher.
Fundraising
We try to raise the children’s awareness of the work of national charities as part of the school’s policy of social and moral education. We regularly and actively support three charities a year, for example; The Red Cross, Readathon and a local children’s charity.
In addition to supporting national charities we also organise fundraising events for our own benefit, either for particular equipment or to boost general funds. We are most grateful for the continued support of parents in our fundraising efforts, for example The Christmas play, the Summer Concert and the Annual Fun Run.
