Appendix 1
Bods Out of School Club
Bods was formed in 2001 by a group of parents who formed a Management Committee to set up and run the Club. A grant was obtained from the New Opportunities Fund, which was used to fund the first year. The Club continues to be managed by a small committee of working mums and a governor representative.
The Club is registered with the Care Standard Inspectorate for Wales. Inspections are carried out annually and the latest one produced a glowing report, showing the Club met with all regulations and provided excellent care for the children.
We can offer places for up to 16 children in the morning and 24 in the afternoon. The senior play-worker is Mandy Clough (NVQ level 3), Nicola Lloyd assists her (working towards NVQ L3) and they have two part time assistants Rosie Richards and Jean Speed.
Hours of care are between 8.00am – 8.55am and 3.00pm – 6.00pm. Breakfast is provided at 8.15am and a mid session snack is provided in the afternoon. We operate a healthy eating policy and individual needs are catered for. Charges are subject to change but we try to provide a caring friendly environment at a very reasonable cost. Fees are used to pay for staff wages, rent of the premises, food and other ancillary costs. Any excess is used to provide new equipment or entertainment for the children.
Every effort is made to provide a happy relaxed environment for the children. We do expect good manners and respect for both the staff and other children, and a behavioural policy is in force. Many activities are offered; there is always a craft activity together with books, toys, pool/table tennis and many games. We do, of course, succumb to modern technology and have computers, play stations, television, video and a karaoke machine! We have the use of the school hall when there are no other after school activities. When the weather is fine the children are encouraged to play outside - activities include rounders and football and we have bikes, scooters, balls, skipping ropes etc.
Registration forms are available from Bods. There is a one off registration fee of £5 per family. Due to the Club’s popularity there can be a waiting list for places. Please feel free to pop in to meet the staff and see what we do. If you have any questions the Management Committee will be only too pleased to answer them. New Committee members are of course always welcome!
Roz Morgan, Chairperson Bods Management Committee.
