Home - School Agreement
Under section 111(1) of the Schools Standards and Framework Act 1998, all schools are required to put a Home-School Agreement into place which outlines the roles and expectations of school and parents. The Act says that:
“a home-school agreement is a statement explaining: the school’s aims and values; the school’s responsibilities towards its pupils who are of statutory age; the responsibilities of its pupils’ parents; and what the school expects of its pupils.”
It is suggested that the agreement could cover:
• |
the range of education offered and the standards aimed for and achieved |
• |
ethos of the school, its aims in terms of spiritual, social and moral development |
• |
the importance of regular and punctual attendance
|
• |
the means by which good behaviour and discipline are fostered and maintained |
• |
the homework requirements |
• |
the information that schools and parents will give to one another which has, or might have, a direct bearing on the educational development or welfare of the child |
The above elements together with all other relevant information are covered in this document. The aims, objectives and responsibilities of the school are clearly presented as is the role and responsibility of the parents in the education of their children.
We are sure that you will find the contents of this prospectus to be a sound basis upon which we can both co-operate to provide a sound education for your children and I therefore invite you to complete the agreement
