Welcome to the Website of Ysgol Sant Dunawd
At Ysgol Sant Dunawd we have an established hardworking team of professionals who are committed to providing the best quality education for all of our pupils. We aim to foster a warm and friendly atmosphere in which children’s self-esteem and respect for others can develop. We provide opportunities for all pupils to reach their full potential, seek new challenges and take pride in their achievements. The partnership between pupils, parents and school is vital and we value the support offered from parents many of whom not only help their children with homework but also offer their help and expertise in activities throughout the school day.
We provide a broad and balanced curriculum, assessment at seven and eleven shows that our pupils perform extremely well with performance figures for both consistently well above both national and local statistics.
In June 2004 the school was awarded the Basic Skills Quality Mark reflecting our determination to highlight the importance of literacy and numeracy in our teaching. In 2005 we received The The Impetus Award for our successful approach to the teaching of citixenship. Currently the whole school is working towards achieving Healthy School status.
I hope that this prospectus provides you with much of the information that you require when making the important decision of choosing a school for your child. If you have not already had the opportunity to visit the school and see the purposeful working environment we provide please do not hesitate to make an appointment, I shall be delighted to show you around and answer any further questions.
Sincerely,
Julia M. Whitby

Welcome from the Governing Body
Ysgol Sant Dunawd, situated in the rural village of Bangor on Dee, primarily serves the village and surrounding communities, providing primary education for children from the ages of 3 to 11.
The Governing Body, staff (teaching and non teaching), parent teacher association (PTA) and a number of parent and other volunteers work closely together to achieve the common goal of providing a friendly, happy and healthy environment where children are encouraged and given every opportunity to achieve their maximum potential.
The Governing Body is comprised of 14 members representing staff, parents the community council, the local authority and co-opted members. Sub committees meet as and when there is a need and the Governing Body meet at least once a term. Minutes of each Governors meeting are available to parents on the notice board in the main entrance. Also an annual report is prepared and presented to parents at the Annual General Meeting, usually held just before the end of the summer term. At this meeting there will be an opportunity to discuss the report and other relevant matters. However, if at any time you have any issues that you would like to bring to the attention of the Governors please contact me or other governors through the school.
I trust you will find the information contained within the prospectus comprehensive but should there be additional information required I am sure the head teacher or member of the Governing Body will be able to assist.
Sincerely,
Russi Dubash
Chair of Governors.
